Godzilla versus Spacegodzilla ( Japanese ゴ ジ ラ vs ス ペ ー ス ゴ ジ ラ , Gojira tai SupēsuGojira ) is a Japanese giant monster film Kaiju Eiga from 1994 . It is the penultimate film in the Heisei Godzilla series. The film was released on video in Germany in July 2002.

action

The film begins on Godzilla's island. There crystal-like meteorites strike, from which Godzilla is awakened.

Meanwhile, people want from the G-Force, including Miki and Prof. Gondo, Godzilla try to control what, so they hope, with the so-called Project T will work. The plan is to attach a telepathy amplifier to the back of Godzilla's head and then control it with thought waves. But there is also a second project, the MOGERA project (Mobile Operation Godzilla Expert Robot Aero-Type, a combat machine that can be split up into a drill tank and a combat aircraft). Behind this project is the plan to kill Godzilla with the help of MOGERA.

Miki is meanwhile with Prof. Gondo and Dr. Okubo traveled to Godzilla's Island to prepare Project T. There they not only meet the G-Force employees Koji, Sato and Yuki, but also the older and older Godzilla junior. The Japanese government has meanwhile decided that the mysterious space monster should be fought with MOGERA after it has destroyed a NASA spaceship , but MOGERA is defeated by him.

Meanwhile, Godzilla emerges from the Pacific and wants to go to Godzilla junior. The research team succeeds in attaching the telepathy amplifier to Godzilla's head. Yuki, however, wanted to kill Godzilla with a blood coagulant because he had killed his best friend Goro in 1989 ( Godzilla, the original giant ) (Goro was the brother of Prof. Gondo).

Suddenly Spacegodzilla appears from space, attacks Godzilla junior and injures him. Godzilla tries to come to his aid, but Spacegodzilla manages to defeat him and heads for Japan . Godzilla, who wants revenge for his son, pursues Spacegodzilla.

Project T is, according to Dr. Okubo failed. The team withdraws, with the exception of Miki, Koji and Sato. But one evening Miki is kidnapped. It doesn't take long to find out that Dr. Ukubo is with the Japanese Mafia and not only controls Godzilla, but also keeps Miki prisoner. Yuki, Sato and Koji set out to free them, which they succeed. It seems that Koji apparently has feelings for Miki.

In the meantime, an explanation has been found for the origin of Spacegodzilla: It was created by Godzilla cells that entered space either through Biollante or Mothra . There they grew into spacegodzilla with the help of black holes and crystal explosions.

Spacegodzilla has landed in Fukuoka to recharge his energy with the help of the Fukuoka Tower. Yuki, Koji and Sato were commissioned by General Aso to fight Spacegodzilla with MOGERA. Arrived in Fukuoka a mighty fight begins, in which Spacegodzilla has the upper hand. But then Godzilla appears and allies himself with MOGERA. In the end he defeats Spacegodzilla and MOGERA

Miki and Koji walk hand in hand down the beach after the fight and watch Godzilla go back into the sea.

reception

Godzilla versus Spacegodzilla is the most expensive Godzilla film to date, with a total of 10.3 million US dollars . But it was far below the expectations that were placed on him. Since an earthquake occurred in Kobe , Tōhō lowered the entrance fee for the film there. The gross profit was around $ 12 million.

The film was very well received by the audience: 81 percent of the audience rated the film positively, whereas Rotten Tomatoes received 57 percent positive reviews.

SpaceGodzilla

Spacegodzilla is slightly larger than its genetic father Godzilla, but looks a lot like him. Spacegodzilla's skin is dark blue, from the belly to the neck and on the inside of the tail the skin is dark red. However, unlike Godzilla, Spacegodzilla has crystal- like spikes on his back and crystal studs on both shoulders. He weighs around 80,000 tons and is 120 meters tall. He is characteristically evil.

SpaceGodzilla can transform itself into a crystal-like flying object, while crystals arise on its back that make the Spacegodzilla look like a large flying crystal. In flight form, it weighs around 80,000 tons.

Most likely, Spacegodzilla was created by Mothra transferring some cells into space in the movie Godzilla - Battle of the Mutant Dinosaurs and being sucked in by black holes, Spacegodzilla came out of a white hole. Its crystals were probably formed in crystal compounds by the solar explosion.
