Roderich Barth

Roderich Barth (* 1966 in Göttingen ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

From 1985 to 1993 he studied Protestant theology and philosophy in Mainz , Frankfurt am Main and Berlin . In 1995 he passed the EKHN's first theological exam . From 1996 to 1999 he received a doctoral scholarship from the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst . From 1999 to 2001 he was a research assistant at the chair for systematic theology and ethics at the University of Munich . After completing his doctorate in systematic theology at the theological faculty of the University of Halle-Wittenberg in 2002, he was a research assistant at the chair for systematic theology (religious philosophy and dogmatics) in Halle from 2002 to 2008 . After his habilitation in 2008 in the subject of systematic theology at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, he taught in 2009 as a visiting professor for systematic theology in the department of Protestant theology at the University of Hamburg . From 2009 to 2011 he was a substitute professor for systematic theology and ethics in Munich . In 2012 he was appointed to the W3 professorship for systematic theology at the University of Duisburg-Essen and represented it in the 2012/2013 winter semester. From 2013 to 2017 he taught as a professor for systematic theology and ethics at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . Since 2017 he has been teaching as a professor for systematic theology with special focus on dogmatics at the theological faculty of the University of Leipzig .

His main research interests are emotion research / psychology of religion, theory of religion, religious pluralism, theological anthropology, the life and work of Rudolf Otto , recent history of theology, in particular liberal theology , theology and philosophy of the Enlightenment and foundations of ethics.
