Rodolfo Vicente Gamarra Varela (born December 10, 1988 in Asunción , Paraguay ) is a Paraguayan football player .

Career

The only 1.68 meter tall Gamarra began playing football at Sportivo Limpeño and moved to the juniors of Libertad Asunción in 2004 . With the U16 national team Paraguay he won the South American Championship in the same year.

For his first professional appearance in the Primera División de Paraguay with Libertad, Gamarra, whose strengths lie in building up the game and in goal preparation, came on November 18, 2008 in a 1-1 draw against FC Tacuary . Almost a year after his debut in the top Paraguayan league, he played his first international match in a friendly against Chile in October 2009.

Although he had only made two international matches up to this point, Paraguay's national coach Gerardo Martino appointed him to the squad for the 2010 World Cup , in which Paraguay made it to the quarter-finals, but Gamarra was not used. In the preparation game against Ireland , he came to his last international match on May 25, 2010.

Gamarra remained loyal to Libertad until 2016 and was only loaned to Club Cerro Porteño for one year during that time . After his return, however, it was rarely used. He left the club in early 2017 to join local rivals Club Guaraní . Here, too, he played for the championship with his team. In mid-2019 he moved to CS Alagoano in Brazil . There he could not assert himself and hired CD Cobresal at the beginning of 2020 .
