Rodrigo Gimeno Molina (born September 21, 1979 in Valencia ) is a former Spanish football player .

Player career

The defensive midfielder Rodri started his career in 1999 with Albacete Balompié in the Segunda División. There he played for a total of four years and in his last season with the Manchegos even reached promotion to Spain's elite league, although he had to change clubs due to a lack of regular place.

Rodri preferred a move to Segunda División B , where he hoped for a breakthrough. Although he managed to return to League 2 with CD Castellón in 2004/2005 , he was never able to earn a regular place in his four years there. For this reason, Rodri joined the club in the summer of 2007 and signed a contract with Hércules CF . With the Alicantines he became a regular player straight away and was able to assert himself as a support in midfield. After he and his team had just missed promotion in the 2008/09 season in fourth place, he made up for this at the end of the 2009/10 season . Rodri himself was only used irregularly during that season.

Rodri did not go with Hércules in the Primera División, but left the club in the summer of 2010. He stayed in the Segunda División and was hired by Gimnàstic de Tarragona . In the 2011/12 season he became a regular, but got relegated with his team at the end of the season. He then played a year with the club in Segunda División B before retiring in the summer of 2013.
