Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz (born October 14, 1956 ) is a Cuban diplomat and politician of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), who has been Minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment in the Cuban Council of Ministers since 2009 .

Life

Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, son of the long-time Foreign Minister Isidoro Malmierca , completed a degree in economics after attending school , from which he graduated with a licentiate . He then took up a position as a technician in the project management of the ECIMETAL company in 1981, but in 1982 he switched to the State Committee for Economic Cooperation (Comité Estatal de Colaboración Económica) as a cooperation specialist . In 1992 he became Counselor for Economic Affairs at the Embassy in Brazil and then in 1997 Director of the Department of Industrialized Countries in the then Ministry for Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation, before becoming Vice Minister for Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation in 1998.

2002 took over Malmierca Díaz the post of ambassador to the European Union (EU) in Brussels and was also ambassador in Belgium and in Luxembourg accredited . In 2005 he became Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York City and stayed there until 2008. After his return, he was appointed Minister for Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation in 2008 as the successor to Marta Lomás Morales (Ministero para la Inversión Extranjera y la Colaboración Económica ) .

After the merger of the Ministry of Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation with the previous Ministry of Foreign Trade (Ministero del Comercio Exterior) in 2009, Malmierca became Díaz, who is also a member of the National Assembly of People's Power ( Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular ) and a member of the Central Committee (ZK) of the PCC , First Minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investments (Ministro del Comercio Exterior e Inversión Extranjera) and thus also successor to the previous Foreign Trade Minister Raúl de la Nuez Ramírez .
