Roer Mill is approximately 200 meters wide and 300 meters long bay in the north of Mainland , the main island of about Scotland scoring Shetlands . At the end of the beach, the Burn of Sandvoe stream flows in from the southwest. The inland part is part of the North Roe Peninsula and the community (Community Council Area) Northmavine . The coast of Roer Mill lies in the nature reserve ( SSSI ) Uyea - North Roe Coast , which stretches from the peninsula of Isle of Fethaland in the northeast to the tidal island of Uyea in the west. Towards the sea, Roer Mill opens up to Inlet Sand Voe , a bay in the North Atlantic .
Since there was no beach for gutting and drying the caught fish at the fishing settlement near the western town of Uyea, which was operated in the summer months as part of haaf fishing in the 18th and 19th centuries , these were first in Fedeland , then later Landed in Roer Mill for further processing.
