Sand Voe is a 1,700 meter long bay ( Voe ) in the north of Mainland , the main island of about Scotland scoring Shetlands . The width is 400 meters at the northern end, where it merges into the North Atlantic , and at the southern end. Here is an isthmus, about 80 meters wide, on which there is a cemetery, and beyond which the Loch of Flugarth lies. At its narrowest point, the Voe sand is only around 100 meters wide. The shores of the bay are uninhabited, about 150 meters west of the southern end is the hamlet of Sandvoe . A road leads over the isthmus from North Roe , the next larger town, about one kilometer to the south. Tributaries are, in addition to the overflow of the Loch of Flugarth, which crosses the isthmus, from the southwest the Burn of Sandvoe, which flows into the Roer Mill , a stream approaching from the Lower Loch of Setter in the northeast and the Burn of Isbister in the extreme southeast.

The inland part is part of the North Roe Peninsula and the community (Community Council Area) Northmavine . The coast of the Sand Voe lies, with the exception of the extreme south, in the nature reserve ( SSSI ) Uyea - North Roe Coast , which extends from the Isle of Fethaland peninsula in the northeast to the tidal island Uyea in the west.
