Roger Désormière

Roger Désormière (born September 13, 1898 in Vichy , † October 25, 1963 in Paris ) was a French conductor .

Life

Désormière studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Philippe Gaubert , Xavier Leroux , Vincent d'Indy and Charles Koechlin . In 1923 he founded, together u. a. with Henri Sauguet , the "École d'Arceuil". From 1925 he was Kapellmeister of the Ballets Russes in Paris . From 1930 he directed the Société de Musique d'Autrefois . In 1932 he became musical director of the Pathé-Nathan company and made a name for himself as a composer of film scores . From 1936 to 1940 he was musical director of the Opéra-Comique and conductor of the Paris Symphony Orchestra. From 1944 to 1946 he was head of the Opéra National de Paris . He was also a guest conductor at La Scala in Milan and the Royal Opera House in London . Paralysis as a result of a thrombosis put an end to his career in 1952.
