Roger Davies, 3rd Baron Darwen

Roger Michael Davies, 3rd Baron Darwen (born June 28, 1938 , † May 26, 2011 near Chelmsford ) was a British peer and non-party politician .

life and career

Davies was born on June 28, 1938 to Cedric Percival Davies, 2nd Baron Darwen (1915–1988) and Kathleen Dora Walker. He was one of four children.

He attended Bootham School in York , Yorkshire .

Membership in the House of Lords

After his father's death in 1988, Davies inherited both his title and the then associated seat in the House of Lords .

According to the Hansard, he never spoke up there.

In 1999, like most hereditary peers, he lost his seat through the House of Lords Act 1999 . He did not attend any meetings in his last two session.

Family and death

On September 16, 1961, Davies married Gillian Irene Hardy, the daughter of Eric G Hardy. He had five children with her, including three daughters and two sons.

In 2003 he lived at The Laborer's Rest , Pleshey , Chelmsford , Essex . Davies died in his sleep in his home on May 26, 2011 at the age of 72 after a lengthy illness. His older son, Paul Davies, 4th Baron Darwen (* 1962) inherited his title . The younger brother is the heir to the title.
