Rohō Yukio ( Japanese 露 鵬 幸 生 , proper Soslan Felixowitsch Boradsow , Kyrill . Сослан Феликсович Борадзов ; born March 9, 1980 in Ordzhonikidse / North Ossetia ) is a former sumo wrestler of Ossetian descent from Russia .
After the Georgian Kokkai, Rohō was the second Caucasian in the Makuuchi Division, the top league of Japanese professional sumō. He is the older brother of Hakurozan .
Rohō, who comes from the Caucasus , won the youth world championship in wrestling at the age of 18 . He played his first official sumo fight in May 2002. In 2004 he reached the Jūryo division and received his first make-koshi in March , but then continued his ascent relatively unimpressed and was able to post some good results in his short time in the makuuchi. At his first tournament in September 2004 he received a prize for special fighting spirit ( Kanto-Sho ). He often used Hatakikomi and similar techniques, although with a weight of 153 kg and a height of 1.95 m he has a stature with which he did not have to shy away from the open test of strength.
Due to his own misconduct, Rohō was often exposed to severe criticism and thus acquired the dubious reputation of the bad boy of sumo. For example, he violated etiquette a few times by not bowing to his opponent after a defeat, but looking at him angrily. Another incident occurred during the 2006 tournament in Nagoya : After his fight against the Ōzeki Chiyotaikai , who had provoked him during the fight, Rohō attacked two photographers on the way to the lounge, who also insulted him. One of the photographers had to be hospitalized after being hit. In the lounge, Rohō then smashed a window pane, cutting his right hand. From the sumo association he was excluded from the tournament for three days because of the violence against the photographers and punished by his stable master with a 10% wage deduction for the next three months. The two photographers as well as Chiyotaikai remained unpunished. At the tournament in July 2007, Rohō was disqualified after 3 wins in 3 days for critical behavior. Officially, a back injury was initially advanced, but this was corrected shortly afterwards.
Prior to the September 2008 Tokyo tournament , Aki Basho , he and his brother Hakurozan were fired from the sumo association for drug use. Another Russian wrestler, Wakanoho , had previously been arrested by police for possession of marijuana. He was also immediately released from the sumo association.
