Rohwerk

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The raw movement of a watch, also called Ébauche in French , comprises the basic components of a mechanical movement or a quartz movement . The separate production in specialized factories of raw works emerged in the course of the division of labor in the production of clocks.

In addition to the basic movement, which was formerly known as the blanc , consisting of a work plate , bridges , cock and barrel , the components of the gear train , lever train , pointer train and shafts belong to the raw movement as the core of a watch . The escapement , balance , balance spring and mainspring as well as the dial and hands are not part of the raw work. Blank movements are of Blanquiers made.

The raw movement is delivered by the manufacturer in loose condition and supplemented by an établisseur (a watchmaker or watch manufacturer), possibly further processed (see finissage ) and thus assembled into a complete watch . In watch factories, the manufacture of the raw movement and the finishing of the watch are combined in a single company.

The most important supplier of raw works is the Swiss holding company Ébauches SA , founded in 1927 , an amalgamation of raw work manufacturers ETA SA , Fabrique d'Horlogerie de Fontainemelon (FHF), Adolph Schild (AS), Unitas , Peseux SA and Valjoux . Other manufacturers of raw works are z. B. Lemania , Enicar , Ronda AG and Sellita . The first German manufacturer of raw works was the Glashütte UROFA , the largest German manufacturer of raw works after 1945 was Durowe in Pforzheim.
