Roland Riese (born July 29, 1960 in Neuenhaus , Grafschaft Bentheim district ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 2003 to 2013 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Riese studied music at the Northwest German Music Academy in Detmold from 1978 to 1984 . He finished his studies with three diploma exams as a music school teacher. Riese belonged to the student parliament and the AStA of the Detmold University of Music. Later he founded the works council of the Soest music school as a member of the GDMK (union of music educators and performing artists). After several years of teaching in Westphalia , Riese was appointed director of the Emden Music School in 1989 . He performed this task until his election to the state parliament in 2003; after leaving the state parliament in 2013, the employment relationship was terminated.

Roland Riese is married to the artist Caladh for the second time .

In June 2014, Riese graduated from the University of West Florida with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). In March 2015 Riese received the invitation to the Beta Gamma Sigma Society , of which he has been a member since then. From 2015 to 2019 he ran a German restaurant called Roland's Bistro in Maryville (Tennessee) .

Political party

Riese has been a member of the FDP since 1990. From 1994 to 2008 he was district chairman of the FDP Emden and from 1996 to 2014 district chairman of the FDP Ems-Jade.

MP

In 1991 Riese was elected to the City Council of Emden for the first time , to which he was a member from 1991 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2006. After two candidacies (1994 and 1998), he was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament for the first time in 2003. In the 15th Lower Saxony state parliament , he was a member of the sub-committee for ports and shipping and the commission for foreigners. He was a deputy member of the Committee on Petitions and the Committee on Science and Culture.

In the Lower Saxony state elections in 2008, Riese again entered the 16th state parliament via the FDP state list . He was a member of the Subcommittee on Ports and Shipping. He was also a member of the state parliament's integration commission, which continues the work of the commission for foreigners. Roland Riese was chairman of the Committee on Social Affairs, Women, Family, Health and Integration.
