Career

The midfielder Roland Twyrdy began his career with Sportfreunde Oesede in Georgsmarienhütte and in 1984 moved to the youth department of VfL Osnabrück . After playing in the amateur team there, he made his professional debut on March 12, 1988 in VfL's second division game against SG Union Solingen , which Osnabrück won 3-1. Twyrdy was initially used irregularly and was then a regular player in the 1989/90 season. A year later he lost this status and returned to Sportfreunde Oesede. He completed 58 second division games and scored three goals.

In the summer of 1992, Twyrdy moved to Preußen Münster , with whom he became champion of the Oberliga Westfalen a year later and failed in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga at Rot-Weiss Essen . In 1994 Twyrdy became German amateur champions with Münster and returned to VfL Osnabrück after the summer break. With Osnabrück he became German amateur champion in 1995, before moving to the regional league team LR Ahlen in 1996 . A year later, Twyrdy moved to BV Cloppenburg , with whom he was promoted to the Regionalliga Nord in 1998. In 1999 he moved to VfB Oldenburg , with whom he was relegated from the regional league as bottom of the table.

Roland Twyrdy then became player-coach at SV Bad Rothenfelde and took over the A-youth team at VfL Osnabrück in 2006. Two years later he led this to promotion to the U-19 Bundesliga . After a fourth place in the 2012/13 season, the team was relegated a year later. Twyrdy then took over the national division club SC Melle 03 .
