The Sportfreunde Oesede (officially: Sportfreunde Oesede - Georgsmarienhütte eV ) are a sports club from Georgsmarienhütte in the district of Osnabrück . The first soccer team played in the highest amateur league in Lower Saxony between 1953 and 1958 and once took part in the DFB Cup .

history

The club was founded in 1921 and played only at the local level until the end of World War II . In 1949 the Sportfreunde were one of the founding members of the then third-class Amateur League 2 . In 1953, the team won the championship and prevailed in the promotion round together with TSV Verden against VfL Germania Leer and rose to the amateur league Lower Saxony- West. Two years later , with seventh place, the best placement of this era was achieved, which ended in 1958 with relegation as the relegated bottom of the table. Until the dissolution in 1964, the Sportfreunde belonged to the Amateur League 8 .

The qualification for the newly created Verbandsliga West was missed and the sports fans had to continue playing in the Osnabrück district league. It was not until 1974 that the Sportfreunde rose to the Association League West. After four years it went back to the district level, before Oeseder qualified for the Weser-Ems Süd district league in 1979 after the league reform. Two years later, the sports fans relegated to the district class. After a runner-up in 1983, one point behind Viktoria Gesmold , he was promoted back to the district league a year later. There the Sportfreunde were runner-up behind the TuS Heidkrug straight away in 1985 . In the promotion round of the runner-up, the Oeseder failed at FC Friesische Wehde Zetel .

A year later, the Sportfreunde were again runner-up with one point behind the second team of VfB Oldenburg . In 1988, under coach Herbert Mühlenberg, he was promoted to the Weser-Ems regional league , before moving through to the fifth-class regional league a year later . There the team only narrowly failed in the championship in 1992. Two years later, the Sportfreunde qualified for the Lower Saxony League West . Also in 1994, the team won the district cup with a 4-2 win against Amisia Papenburg and later the Lower Saxony cup . This qualified the Oeseder for the DFB Cup . In front of 13,000 spectators at the Osnabrück Bremen Bridge , the sports fans trained by ex-national player Erwin Kostedde lost in the first round against Bundesliga club Karlsruher SC with 1: 6.

In the 1995/96 season, Sportfreunde reached their sporting zenith with fourth place in the Lower Saxony West League. A year later, there was a big break when the board was no longer willing to finance high-paying football. Halfway through the season, the entire team received clearance to change clubs. With only twelve points and 113 goals conceded, the Sportfreunde rose as the bottom of the table in the 1996/97 season and were passed down in the following national league season 1997/98, in which the team was without a win. After the third relegation in a row, the Oeseder finally came in 1999 in the district class. The low point of the district league season 1998/99 was a 0:11 defeat at TV Dinklage. But in 2001 the Sportfreunde became runner-up in the district class behind Eintracht Neuenkirchen , but failed in the promotion round at BV Essen . A year later, he was promoted to the district league, which was followed in 2003 by promotion to the Weser / Ems regional league .

The team only narrowly failed in their third ascent in a row, but Oeseder was third in the 2003/04 season, two points behind the champions VfL Oldenburg. Five years later, the team was relegated from the now renamed Weser / Ems regional league and voluntarily withdrew to the district league Osnabrück-Land, group south . The background was the departure of almost the entire team. The previous second team of Sportfreunde became the new first.
