Eduard "Edu" Sausmikat (born September 26, 1911 in Osnabrück , † September 20, 1999 in Osnabrück) was a German football player and coach who played for VfL Osnabrück .
career
Sausmikat came from Osnabrück and played for VfR Voxtrup in his youth . In 1928 he came to VfL Osnabrück and made the leap to the first team in 1933. As a defender, he belonged to the legendary Gartlager-Elf, which moved into the finals of the German championship under coach Walter Hollstein in 1939 and 1940 as champions of the Lower Saxony Gauliga . At the end of his active career he played for Raspo Osnabrück .
In 1952 Edu Sausmikat was one of the first German coaches to acquire a football instructor license. Initially, Susmikat, who worked full-time at Deutsche Bundesbahn, was a coach in the high-class amateur area at Schinkel 04 , SV Ennigloh 09 , Union Herford , FC Lübbecke , Eintracht Mettingen, Ibbenbürener Spvg and Sportfreunde Oesede . He then looked after amateur and youth teams at VfL Osnabrück. From 1975 to 1977 Susmikat was assistant coach under Reinhold Ertel and then Siegfried Melzig for the second division team. After Melzig was dismissed as head coach, he looked after the team around Gerd-Volker Schock , Lothar Gans and Herbert Mühlenberg in the final phase of the second division season 1976/77.
From 1964 to 1991 he led the North Association of the Association of German Football Teachers.
Edu Sausmikat died on September 20, 1999 after suffering a heart attack in August during a game between VfL and TuS Celle .
