Rolf-Oliver Schwemer (born March 4, 1965 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German lawyer and politician ( independent ) and since 2008 district administrator of the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1984 at Wilhelmgymnasium in Kassel and doing basic military service in the armed forces, he began training as a banker in 1985 at Dresdner Bank AG in Kassel, which he completed in 1987. This was followed by a study of law at the University of Göttingen and Leuven ( Belgium ), a dissertation and a two-year legal clerkship at the OLG Schleswig , before he passed the 2nd state examination in 1996.

His professional career began as an assessor at the Dithmarschen district administration and was interrupted from 1997 to 2000 by working as an in-house lawyer at Dresdner Bank AG in Frankfurt am Main . Since 2000 he has been the district's deputy district administrator and responsible for the business areas of construction, economy, order and the environment.

Under his leadership, the administration was reorganized with the aim of budget consolidation and economic friendliness. In November 2007, the district of Dithmarschen was the first German local authority to be awarded the RAL quality mark "Mittelstandsorientierte Verwaltung".

In 2007 Schwemer announced his candidacy as a non-party candidate of the CDU for the district election in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in 2008. He stood against the incumbent Wolfgang von Ancken , who was a member of the CDU, but had fallen out with his party because of inconsistencies in the execution of his office. After a runoff election on June 15, 2008, Schwemer was able to prevail against Frank Martens (SPD) with 52.0% of the vote. The incumbent von Ancken, who was defeated in the first ballot, then handed over the district office to Schwemer on July 1, 2008.

Schwemer is married and has two children.
