Rolf Cremer

Rolf Cremer (* 1949) is a German economist and former president of the EBS University for Economics and Law .

Life

Rolf Cremer received his doctorate in economics at the TU Darmstadt in 1978 . He is the author of several books and research reports published in New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Germany. His essays have been published in the American Journal of Economics and Sociology, Journal of the Asia Pacific Economy, Yearbooks for Economics and Statistics, Economic Policy, Economic Policy Papers, The International History Review, and Asian Survey. His research interests include foreign direct investment, international communication and trade, SME, human resources policy, and international manager education. Cremer has been Professor of Economics, Dean and Vice President at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) since 1999 . Previously, he was Pro Vice-Chancellor in the College of Business at Massey University, New Zealand and Head of the School of Applied and International Economics at Massey University. He is honorary professor at Nanchang University and on the board of trustees of the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management . Before joining Massey University, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of East Asia, Macau.

In May 2011, Cremer was elected President of the EBS University of Economics and Law and thus succeeded Christopher Jahns, who was dismissed because of suspected controversial business . Jahns, who had awarded Cremer an honorary doctorate from the European Business School in 2008, originally wanted to form a double head with Cremer until Jahns fell through the infidelity affair and Cremer took over the management of the university alone.

On February 14, 2012, Cremer announced his resignation from the office of President of EBS for health reasons with effect from February 21, 2013. His contract ran until May 2014.
