Rolf Fischer (General)
Rolf Fischer (born August 3, 1930 in Rübeland ; † April 15, 2013 ) was a German major general in civil defense in the GDR .
Life
The son of a model carpenter completed an apprenticeship as an administrative clerk from 1947 to 1950 after attending school with the secondary school leaving certificate.
In 1949 he joined the SED . From 1950 to 1952 he studied at the German Administration Academy in Forst Zinna . After working in the council of the district of Magdeburg in 1952/53 and with the State Secretary for Internal Affairs of the GDR from 1953 to 1955, he joined the German People's Police in 1955 and worked first in fire protection, then in air protection of the MdI . In 1968 he became 1st Deputy Head of the Civil Defense Staff of the GDR, in 1976 as the successor to Major General Rudolf Trinks, Deputy Head of Civil Defense and Chief of Staff. On February 10, 1978, he was appointed major general by Erich Honecker and then from 1978 to 1986 he was head of civil protection for civil defense in the GDR. Most recently, from 1986 to 1990 he was Deputy Head of Civil Defense and Head of Administration I.
Fischer died at the age of 82.
