Rolf Rätsch

Rolf Rätsch (born August 1, 1935 in Göttingen ; † February 1, 1995 in Langenscheid ) was a German table tennis player and participant in the 1959 World Cup.

In the database of the world association ITTF he is wrongly listed with the first name "Theo".

Career

Rätsch first played in the club Post SV Koblenz and then for a long time at the TTC Deutsches Eck Koblenz . In 1949 he won the Rhineland Boys' Championship. In the 1950s he was appointed to the Rhineland selection several times. a. also in the Germany Cup . In 1959 he took first place in the ranking of the Rhineland.

This year he was nominated for the individual competitions of the World Cup in Dortmund. Here he prevailed against Wim Augustinus (Netherlands) and Herbert Köhncke (Germany) in the individual qualifying round. In the main rounds he won over Shonie Aki (USA) and Claude Duvernay (Switzerland) and then lost to the Chinese Li Jen-Su. Only the West German Erich Arndt and three East German men were more successful in the individual at this World Cup . In doubles with Lothar Stegmann, he was eliminated in the first round against the GDR player Hanschmann / Täger .

In 1960 Rätsch moved to the FC Arzheim club .

Rätsch was married and had two daughters.
