Rolf Richter (born May 26, 1941 in Oederan ; † January 14, 1988 there ) was a German chess composer .

At a young age, Rolf Richter played in the team of Progress Oederan chess. He started chess composition around 1961. He published some three-move and multi-move as well as auxiliary and self-mate tasks . But his main interest was the chess study . In the 1970s he developed into the most successful study composer in the GDR. By focusing on tasks , he has won a double-digit number of prizes and other awards. Richter composed about 80 studies.

The following study shows an all-round transformation of black and stalemate in four variants, each after a double piece sacrifice .
