Rolf Ziegler (sociologist)

Rolf Ziegler (born July 22, 1936 in Stuttgart ) is a German sociologist .

Life

After studying economics and sociology at the Technical University of Stuttgart and at the University of Cologne (where 1960 graduate economist ) doctorate Ziegler in Cologne in 1967 to Dr. rer. pole. and completed his habilitation there in 1971. In the same year he was appointed Scientific Counselor and Professor there and then accepted a professorship in Kiel . In 1975 he was appointed to the University of Vienna , two years later to the University of Munich .

In 1999 he was retired there ; in the same year he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

Fields of work

Ziegler orientates himself on critical rationalism , places an emphasis on the application of mathematical procedures and on the modeling of social systems and emerged as an organizational and military sociologist .
