history
The first settler Lambert came in 1883 to the area that was originally used for dairy farming. Rollingstone was known as Armidale and stretched from Bluewater Creek in the south to Clerk Creek (later renamed Ollera Creek) in the north.
The main drainage of the area is through the center of Armindale's dairy farm, Rollingstone Creek, named for the rounded rocks in the creek bed. The district name "Rollingstone" became popular with the locals when the bridge was built over the creek and also as the railway line from Townsville to Ingham. In 1902, the place name changed with the development of the postal system in Rollingstone to avoid confusion with Armidale in New South Wales .
