Roman Griffin Davis (born March 5, 2007 in London ) is a British - French child actor .

Life

Roman Griffin Davis was born in London. He is the son of cameraman Ben Davis and director Camille Griffin . His paternal grandfather was cinematographer Michael J. Davis . His paternal step-grandmother is director and film producer Gabrielle Beaumont . His maternal grandfather was Irish and his maternal grandmother was French. In addition to British citizenship, Davis also has French citizenship.

In the film, Jojo Rabbit of Taika Waititi , who came to the US theaters in October 2019. Davis was at the age of 11 years after an audition in the title role of Jojo Betzler, a 10-year-old Hitler Youth. It was Davis' first ever film role. Dieter Oßwald from the Gilde deutscher Filmkunsttheater writes in his review of Jojo Rabbit that the child actor could also be good as a young Charlie Chaplin . His younger brothers, twins Gilby Griffin Davis and Hardy Griffin Davis, appear as Nazi clones in the film. Davis also has an older half-sister named Dora.

Davis was nominated for Best Actor - Comedy / Musical at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards for his performance .

Roman Griffin Davis lives in East Sussex with his parents and brothers Gilby and Hardy. His mother also cast him for a role in her comedy film Silent Night .
