Roman Zeilinger

Roman Zeilinger (born February 4, 1938 in Vienna ) is an Austrian conductor, pianist, musicologist and theater director .

Life

Roman Zeilinger studied piano and conducting at the Vienna Conservatory as well as German, musicology and history at the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in 1961. PhD.

He worked with the Waltharia Choir , the Vienna Academy Chamber Choir and as a conductor of the Vienna Boys' Choir , as well as with the Vienna Volksoper for the extra choir and as a lied accompanist. In 1964 he worked as a répétiteur and conductor at the Landestheater Linz , where he was director from 1986 to 1998. From 1983 to 1985 he was also chief conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and since 1998 he has worked as a freelance professor at the Vienna University of Music and the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz .

His son Clemens Zeilinger is a pianist.
