Romana Jerković

Romana Jerković (born November 28, 1964 in Split ) is a Croatian doctor and politician ( SDP ).

Life

Romana Jerković studied medicine at the University of Rijeka and received her PhD in 1998 from the Institute of Biology at the University of Padua . In 2003 she became Associate Professor of Anatomy at the University of Rijeka, and in 2010 she became a full professor.

She has been a member of the SDP since 1999. From 2005 to 2009 she was Deputy Mayor of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel .

From 2008 to 2015 she was a member of the Croatian Parliament ( Sabor ), and since the parliamentary elections in 2016 she has belonged again to the Sabor. She has been chairwoman of the parliamentary committee for interparliamentary cooperation since 2017.

Before Croatia joined the EU , Jerković was an observer in the EU Parliament from April 2012 to June 2013 . She won the 12th mandate for Croatia in the 2019 European elections . So far, Croatia had 11 seats in the European Parliament, but received another seat after Brexit and the associated resignation of the British MPs , so Jerković moved up on February 1, 2020.
