Romas Jarockis

Romas Jarockis (born April 30, 1963 in Akmenė ) is a Lithuanian archaeologist and politician.

Life

After graduating from secondary school in Naujoji Akmenė from 1970 to 1981 , he completed his diploma studies from 1985 to 1990 at Vilnius University . From 1997 to 2001 he did his PhD at the Institute of History of Lithuania and Kaunas University and from 1998 to 2001 he studied at Lund University in Sweden . In 2002 he received his doctorate on the subject Semgallen ( "Urbanizacijos raida Žiemgaloje 11-16 a. Centras, periferija ir valdžia"). From 1990 to 1997 and from 2001 to 2013 he worked at the Institute of History of Lithuania. From 2003 he taught at the University of Klaipėda .

Since February 2013 he has been the Lithuanian vice minister of culture , deputy of Šarūnas Birutis in the Butkevičius cabinet .
