He also took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris . Of the 58 runners who had started there, no fewer than 28 had to end the race prematurely because of the great heat, including Alberto Cavallero , Angelo Malvicini , Ernesto Alciati and Ettore Blasi on the Italian side . Only Tullio Biscuola and Romeo Bertini crossed the finish line. Biscuola finished 22nd, while Bertini set a personal best in the wake of the superior winner Albin Stenroos from Finland (gold in 2: 41: 22.6 hours). With 2: 47: 19.6 hours he was almost six minutes behind, but ran into a safe silver medal, as the third-placed, the American Clarence DeMar , came in 2: 48: 14.0 hours.

Four years later, at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam , he made another attempt, but could not finish the race.

In Bertini's hometown of Gessate, a sports palace bears his name.
