Ron Meadows

Ron Meadows (born February 7, 1964 in Liverpool ) is a British mechanic and manager. He is the sports director at Mercedes Grand Prix .

Career

After graduating from school, he began an apprenticeship as a mechanic at TWR in 1980 . In 1987 he became chief mechanic and later team principal at Middlebridge Racing in Formula 3000 and switched to Ran Vortex in 1991. In 1995 he went to Walker Racing as team manager in the IndyCar series , where his team was able to take a successful second place.

In 1997 he returned to Europe and was involved in the founding of the new racing team British American Racing , which was to take part in the Formula 1 World Championship from the 1999 Formula 1 season. His first job was to set up the racing stable's headquarters in Brackley , UK . From the 2000 Formula 1 season , he was team manager. When the team was taken over by Honda Racing after the 2006 Formula 1 season , he stayed on board and became sporting director at the beginning of the 2008 Formula 1 season , which he also did after Honda left Brawn GP in the formula -1 season of 2009 remained. Even after the team was converted into MercedesGP for the 2010 Formula 1 season , he continues to stand on the team's bridge with Ross Brawn and Nick Fry as well as Mercedes-Benz Motorsport Director Norbert Haug .

Private

Meadows is married with four children. He lives in Oxfordshire, UK .
