Career

Peplow played with Jimmy Bloomfield and John Murray , among others, during school days and represented the school selections of London and Middlesex . As an adult, he first played for Southall FC in the Athenian League . In 1955 he moved to Brentford FC in the Football League Third Division South and made it for the first time in October 1955 in a floodlit friendly game against the first division club Arsenal when he lost 3-2 with "his clever passes and sudden That said, it wasn't until April 1956 that he made his competitive debut in a league game against Swindon Town and crowned his appearance with the goal of the day. Previously, Jim Towers had mostly occupied the position of the left half- forward.

The following season he moved into the runner row and came in competition with George Bristow and Wendell Morgan for a total of 17 season appearances as a right runner . He also took the penalty for the first time in November 1956 after Brentford had missed the previous three. After a goal in a friendly against Lincoln City , he also appeared in the league game against Coventry City a week later and converted confidently against England goalkeeper Reg Matthews . In the further course of his career he is said to have converted a total of 28 of 30 attempts from the penalty spot.

In the season 1957/58 he came on the left outside runner position, behind regular player Ken Coote , to 13 season appearances when the club as second in the table just behind Brighton & Hove Albion missed the championship, but at least qualified for the new single-track Third Division . Also in the season 1958/59 his wandering in the line-up continued. Until March 1959 without a season, he replaced Ian Dargie in April and came to seven missions as a center runner . For the 1959/60 season he returned to the right wing runner position, again remained without use until March, he represented Bristow the entire April and came again to eight missions. In the 1960/61 season, his numbers increased, mostly still on the right runner position. In 18 games of the season he scored three goals, two of them by penalty.

At the end of the season, Peplow was one of ten Brentford professionals who were not renewed by the club after 66 appearances in six years. He subsequently joined Ashford Town (Kent) in the Southern League ; a year later he moved to league rivals Folkestone Town , where he was one of four newcomers with Football League experience alongside Tommy Johnston , Jack Harrop and Tommy Wilson . Peplow continued his career at Folkestone until at least 1967.
