Ronald Backus (born March 28, 1922 in Poole ) is a former British sailor .

Ronald Backus was a crew member of the British boat Bluebottle of skipper Graham Mann in the kite class alongside Jonathan Janson at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne . With 4547 points they finished the regatta behind the Swedish boat led by Folke Bohlin and the Norwegian boat led by Ole Berntsen in third place, with which they received the bronze medal.
