Ronald Farren-Price

Ronald William Farren-Price (* 1930 in Brisbane , Queensland ) is an Australian pianist .

Life

After attending school, Farren-Price studied piano at the University of Melbourne before continuing his studies in Germany and with Claudio Arrau in London . In 1955 he was accepted at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music .

Starting in 1967, he began extensive concert tours through the USA , Great Britain and Europe and was the first Australian pianist to give guest performances in the Soviet Union . In addition to regular radio appearances and concerts arranged by Vera Bradford, he has also performed with numerous orchestras such as the Melbourne Grammar School and the Frankston Symphony Orchestra. In addition, several recordings followed with the Australian record label Move Records, founded in 1968 .

He later also became an Associate Professor at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, now the Faculty of Music at the University of Melbourne, of which he was Dean from 1986 to 1990. His students there included later pianists such as Amir Farid and Anne Goldsworthy.
