Ronald Romm

Ronald Romm (born December 4, 1946 in New York ) is an American trumpeter.

Growing up in a family of musicians in California, he already gained experience as a soloist at the age of ten, at 12 he was a member of the family band "The Romm-Antics", at 18 he was already considered a senior in the music scene in Los Angeles .

He first studied at the University of Southern California , he received his bachelor's and master's degrees in New York at the Juilliard School under his teacher William Vacchiano .

In 1971 he joined the newly founded brass quintet Canadian Brass , with which he made around 4500 appearances and 60 recordings and CD recordings worldwide for 29 years.

He left the ensemble in 2000 and has been Professor of Trumpet at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a member of the Illinois Brass Quintet since 2001 .

From 2006 to 2010 he was again a member of the "Trumpet Dream Team" of Canadian Brass , which was dissolved in 2010 in favor of a permanent line-up with two trumpeters.
