Ronny Krippner

Ronny Krippner (* 1980 in Marktredwitz , Bavaria ) is a German-British church musician and currently works as organist and director of music at Croydon Minster in London .

biography

Ronny Krippner comes from a Bavarian-Bohemian family and grew up first in Waldsassen , then in Marktredwitz . During his school days he received organ lessons from Alois Fischer (Waldsassen), as well as lessons in harmony, counterpoint and composition from the then Regensburg cathedral organist Eberhard Kraus (Regensburg) and Wolfram Graf (Bayreuth). After graduating from high school, he began his training at the Regensburg University of Church Music (organ playing and improvisation with Franz Josef Stoiber , piano with Norbert Brandstetter and orchestral conducting with Graham Buckland). During this time he also worked as a choirmaster for the pre-choirs of the Regensburger Domspatzen .

Krippner then went to England, where he took a master's degree in English Cathedral Music at the University of Exeter and as a choral scholar at Exeter Cathedral, studying organ and choral conducting. He then worked at the same time as organist at the Cathedrals of Bristol and Newport (South Wales), as well as at Clifton College.

In 2007 Krippner followed a call as organist at King's College School in the London borough of Wimbledon. During this time he was also the organist at St George's Church, Hanover Square (London).

Krippner is the City of Marktredwitz Culture Prize Winner (1998) and received the Sudeten German Culture Prize for the Performing Arts in 2018. In addition to England and Germany, his concert activities have also taken him to Australia, France, Holland, Mexico, Norway and Hungary.

Since 2010 Krippner has been teaching organ improvisation at the Royal Conservatory in Birmingham . He successfully took part in the international organ improvisation competitions in St. Albans (GB) and Biarritz (F). In 2019, Krippner received his PhD from Birmingham City University (GB) with a thesis on organ improvisation at Anglican cathedrals in Great Britain.
