The Roon was a fishing steamer completed in 1914 by the Nordenhamer Werft Schiffbaugesellschaft Unterweser . The ship had the hull number 0100 and was delivered to the Nordsee shipping company on June 27, 1914 . It received the fishing license ON 75 .

It is quite possible that the ship was used as an outpost boat for the Imperial Navy during the First World War . In 1934 the side trawler was relocated to Geestemünde and was given the name Nuremberg and the fishing license plate PG 432 .
