Roque Ablan Jr.

Roque R. Ablan Jr. (born April 22, 1932 in Laoag City - † March 26, 2018 ) was a Filipino politician .

biography

After attending school, Ablan studied law and then worked as a lawyer . He began his political career in 1969 with the first election to the House of Representatives of the Philippines (Kapulungán ng mgá Kinatawán ng Pilipinas or Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso), of which he was a member until the imposition of martial law by President Ferdinand Marcos in 1972. After the end of the Marcos dictatorship , he was again a member of the House of Representatives between 1987 and 1998.

Since 2001 he was again a member of the House of Representatives. In this he represented as a member of the Lakas-CMD (Lakas-Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino-Christian Muslim Democrats) the constituency I (1st District) of the province of Ilocos Norte .

In the 14th Congress he was Chairman of the Committee on Dangerous Drugs. He was also chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Interparliamentary Relations and Diplomacy and Transport Committees. In addition, as a representative of the parliamentary majority, he was a member of the Committees on Auditing, Agriculture and Food, Expropriation, Constitutional Amendments, Ecology, Energy, Gambling and Amusement, Good Government and Public Accountability, Justice, Labor and Employment, National Defense and Security, Natural Resources, the growth of North Luzon (North Luzon Growth Quadrangle), public order and safety, law revisions and tourism.
