Rory Morrison (* 5. August 1964 in London , England ; † 11. June 2013 in St Albans ) was a British radio host radio station BBC Radio 4 .

Rory Morrison was born in London in 1964, the first of three children to Anne and Bob Morrison. He grew up in Malvern , Worcestershire and attended Chase School and Malvern College . In 1986, Morrison graduated from Durham University with a degree in English .

His radio career began as a travel reporter and presenter on the local independent station Beacon Radio , which aired in Shropshire , Wolverhampton and the Black Country .

In 1990 Rory started working for the BBC's local radio. He hosted his own broadcast on BBC Radio Leeds and also worked for BBC Radio York and BBC Radio Cleveland . He then worked for the British Forces Broadcasting Service .

In April 1994, Rory Morrison began working as a radio announcer for Radio 4. He later worked there as a newscaster and participated regularly in The News Quiz .

In 1994 he married the journalist Nikki Jenkins. They met while working on BBC Radio Leeds . The two became parents of two children, Honor and Reuben.

In 2004, Rory Morrison was diagnosed with a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma . After the diagnosis, he helped raise funds for the Lymphoma Association .

In April 2008, a group of Radio 4 news anchors took part in a broadcast on the Ramblings radio program while walking through the countryside near Herstmonceux Castle to raise funds for the charity.

In June 2013, Rory Morrison died of cancer in St Albans at the age of 48.
