Rosa Winter (born December 23, 1923 in Königswiesen , Freistadt district , † May 16, 2005 in Linz ) was an Austrian concentration camp survivor.

Life

Born in the winter of 1923 in the Mühlviertel as a member of the Sinti family Kerndlbacher. During the time of National Socialism , Winter's family was brought to the “gypsy camp ” in the Kendler settlement in Salzburg- Maxglan , and they themselves were later deported to the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp . Rosa Winter was the only survivor of her family, all relatives were murdered.

Kerndlbacher took over in 1941 a minor role in the film lowlands of Leni Riefenstahl .

Rosa Winter became known in 2003 for the film Vom Leben und Überleben , a documentary about six survivors of the Ravensbrück women's concentration camp, and the book Uns hat sein nicht gab . In 2004 she received the Gold Medal of Merit of the Province of Upper Austria .
