The Rose Bowl is a Cricket - Stadium in the English city of Southampton . The stadium serves as the home of the Hampshire County Cricket Club and one of today's nine test stadiums in the UK .

history

With its construction, the stadium replaced the previous County Ground as the home of the Hampshire CCC. The expectation was to be able to play test games in Hampshire in addition to ODI games. However, the first attempt to apply for such a game failed in 2006, so that the stadium was further developed.

Capacity and infrastructure

The stadium has a capacity of 16,500 seats which can be expanded with other temporary additions. The two ends are called Pavilion End and Northern End .

use

In 2005, England's first Twenty20 home game against Australia was played in the stadium. Test games have also been held here since 2011. The stadium is also intended to host the 2019 Cricket World Cup .
