Rosemarie Anna Gertrud Hein (born January 17, 1953 in Leipzig ) is a German politician of the Die Linke party , from 1990 to 2006 a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt and from 2009 to 2017 a member of the German Bundestag .

Job and family

After graduating from high school in Hennigsdorf , Rosemarie Hein began studying pedagogy at what was then the Dresden University of Education in 1971 , which she finished in 1975 as a teacher of German and art education . She then worked at EOS in Oschersleben for five years .

From 1982 to 1986 Rosemarie Hein was an aspirant at the Academy for Social Sciences at the Central Committee of the SED. During this time she wrote her dissertation A on the subject of " Fine arts in the GDR for world peace: Positions and problems in the seventies and eighties ".

Rosemarie Hein is married and has two daughters.

Political career

Rosemarie Hein joined the SED in 1976 after various voluntary functions . From 1980 to 1982 she worked in the SED district leadership in Oschersleben. After the political change, she was elected district chairman of the PDS in Magdeburg in the spring of 1990 and deputy state chairman in the summer of the same year. She held this office until 1995. From September 1997 to June 2005 she was state chairwoman of the PDS in Saxony-Anhalt. Since June 2007 she has been a member of the executive committee of Die Linke .

In October 1990 she was elected to the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt for the first time. Her political focus was on education policy. She was a member of the Committee on Culture and Media. In 2006 she no longer ran for the state parliament.

In June 2004 she was elected to the Magdeburg city council and is mainly involved in the city's school policy.

In the 2009 Bundestag election on September 27, 2009, she was elected as a direct candidate in the Magdeburg constituency (constituency 70) with 32.0% of the votes in the German Bundestag . She was also a member of the 18th German Bundestag , where she was a member of the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment .

Rosemarie Hein is spokeswoman for general education for her party.
