Rosemarie Rizzo-Parse

Rosemarie Rizzo-Parse (born July 28, 1938 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is a nursing scientist , university professor and author of the nursing theory Human Becoming , which she first published in 1981 under the title Man-Living-Health (dt. Life-Health).

Rosemarie Rizzo-Parse was born on July 28, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the second of three children to the Rizzo family. She grew up in a strictly Catholic household that placed a lot of emphasis on education. After graduating from Catholic high school, Rizzo-Parse began studying nursing at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Immediately after completing her bachelor's degree , she received a scholarship and after two years also completed her master's degree in nursing. While Rizzo-Parse was teaching at the Duquesne, she prepared her dissertation . She then worked at the City University of New York as professor and coordinator of the Center for Nursing Research at Hunter College, and in 1983 she moved to Loyola University Chicago as professor and director of the Niehoff program . Rizzo-Parse has been retired since 1996. Rizzo-Parse founded and took over editorial responsibility for the nursing science journal Nursing Science Quarterly .
