Rosemary E. Bancroft-Marcus
Rosemary E. Bancroft-Marcus (* 20th century ) is a British neo-Greekist .
Bancroft-Marcus first studied Classical Philology at Exeter College , Oxford . After completing her BA , she accepted a grant from the British Council for a one-year study visit to Greece and Crete . In 1978 she was at the University of Oxford in the Department of Medieval and Modern Languages with a dissertation on the Cretan Renaissance poet Georgios Chortatsis the D. Phil. PhD. She now lives as a private scholar and teacher in Oxford and in Rixensart near Brussels and is one of the leading scholars in the field of literature of the Cretan Renaissance. She taught at the Universities of Geneva and Oxford .
Bancroft married the physicist Frederick Barry Marcus in Oxford in 1974.
