Rosmarie Kurz (* 1940 ) is a former Swiss cross-country skier . She is the record winner of the Engadin Skimarathon and two -time Swiss cross-country champion . In addition, she also played tennis and drove bike races .

Career

In terms of sport, Kurz was active in three different sports over the course of her career. In tennis, she was Winterthur city champion, won the Pontresina Open and became SATUS Swiss champion.

She got into cross-country skiing in 1964 through her husband Hansruedi Kurz, a patrol runner in the Swiss military. Since she was faster than her husband on cross-country skis, he motivated her to do more cross-country skiing. In 1969 she and her husband took part in the first staging of the Engadin Skimarathon for the Winterthur ski club and came fourth, but about an hour behind the winner, Rita Czech-Blasel . Later she met Roman Decurtins during a training run in Wülflingen , who motivated her to take part in the Swiss cross-country championships for the first time in 1971, where she also won bronze. A year later, in 1972, she was able to win the Engadin Skimarathon for the first time, with an advantage of 20 minutes over the runner-up. At the Swiss Championships she was runner-up. During this time, her husband also took an apprenticeship in Zuoz , so that cross-country skiing replaced tennis as her most important sport. In the five following years she won all events of the ski marathon and started in 1973 for the SC Zuoz. With a total of six wins in a row, Kurz is the record winner at the Engadin Skimarathon. In addition, she became Swiss champion in cross-country skiing in 1973 and 1974 and then won silver again in the same.

After a successful cross-country skiing career with 111 victories, she later switched to cycling due to knee problems and was internationally successful there. She took part twice in the road cycling world championships and was 17th each time and was able to achieve 6th place at the Giro d'Italia . In total, she celebrated eleven victories in cycling.
