Rosmarie Michel

Rosmarie Michel (* 1931, in Zurich ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and leadership manager who campaigns for the advancement of women in business and management positions. From 1983 to 1985 she was World President of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women .

Life

Rosmarie L. Michel was born in Zurich, where she still lives today and is closely connected to the development of her hometown. After graduating from secondary school in Zurich and the hotel management school in Lausanne , various stays abroad followed.

In 1956, Rosmarie Michel took over the management of the family-owned Confiserie Schurter. Until June 30, 2006 she was the owner of the family business Confiserie Schurter am Central; the company, founded in 1869, is known for traditional Zurich pastries.

Rosmarie Michel grew up in a modern family home where mother and father were employed and a partnership was lived at eye level.

Professional background

The Zurich entrepreneur had held various board memberships over the past four decades (mostly as the first and only woman), during which she also initiated and carried out a number of construction projects

Her construction activities included activities as a member of the Zurich City Planning Group and the Commission for Monument Protection of the City of Zurich, as well as various construction projects for the ZFV companies.

Civil society engagement

In her voluntary activities, she primarily campaigned for a better integration of women into the economy. This included membership for twelve years (1977–1989) on the Executive Committee of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women , including three years as World President (1983–1985). The work as Vice Chair and Trustee of Women's World Banking , New York (1987–1999) and the Presidium of the Management Symposium for Women Association . In addition, she acts as a contact point, guest speaker, consultant, co-organizer for events, specialist, contact broker and much more for her wide-ranging, internationally significant and diverse economic and social network.

In 1989 Rosmarie Michel was appointed permanent guest of honor at the University of Zurich , in recognition of her commitment to promoting women in work, public and politics, and as the “patron” of the university canteens .

Rosmarie Michel is a national and international advocate of women in business and is clearly in favor of introducing a target in the board of directors. Elisabeth Feller was one of her sponsors .
