Monique R. Siegel (born February 12, 1939 in Berlin ; died June 9, 2019 in Zurich ) was a business advisor, business ethicist and non-fiction author whose thematic focus was on equal opportunities for women in employment.

Live and act

Monique Siegel was born in Berlin and spent her childhood and youth here. Her school days in post-war Germany were affected because there were no schools and rooms, but also school books. Still, she was fascinated by learning. She finished school at the age of 17 and worked for several years as a secretary for the American allies in Berlin before emigrating to the USA at the age of 23 . While working for a real estate company, she studied German at Columbia University and New York University from 1967 in New York . In the early 1970s, Siegel moved back to Europe and settled in Zurich. From 1973 to 1979 she was the head of AKAD , a private educational institution. The founding of AKAD Femina in 1976 is considered a pioneering project in women's education.

At the age of 40, Monique R. Siegel started her own business with advanced training courses for women. It later became the consulting firm MRSThink, which organized the management symposium for women (1985–1996), initiated the Future Days Zurich (1997–1999), gave lectures and keynotes and advised companies.

In between, Siegel completed a degree in applied ethics at the University of Zurich and worked as a business ethicist. She was a sought-after business expert on radio and television, works as a columnist for Organizer , a specialist magazine for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and as a publicist for Journal 21 .

Siegel founded the think tank “Female Shift” and was a member of the women's network Business and Professional Women (BPW) in Club Switzerland from 1977 to 2019 with a brief interruption .

Siegel has dedicated her entire professional life to education and the acquisition of knowledge. But she was a skeptic and critic of the term knowledge society. At an early stage, she observed the processes and changes that the Internet's possibilities for knowledge acquisition have.

Monique R. Siegel died on June 9, 2019 in Zurich after a serious illness.
