Horse crest
The horse crest or horse stick is not common as a common figure in heraldry . The comb teeth can be in different numbers and straight or curved. In the coat of arms of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen and Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt there is one in the shield base under the soap fork . In the first mentioned coat of arms it is in red, in the other in silver. It was passed on in the Helbedündorf coat of arms because it belonged to the Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. The position in the shield base was misinterpreted in the 18th century as a shelf for the title of Reichsstallmeister.
The horse ridge is used to groom horses' manes. In a figurative sense, the horse dealer was referred to as a horse comb (such as Michael Kohlhaas in Heinrich von Kleist's story of the same name) or Rosstäuscher .
