Klaus Ringwald's artistic work is shaped by the changing times. His artistic life's work is divided into three main creative areas: In addition to his animal figures, which often appear mischievous and funny and capture the comedy of the moment, he devoted himself to portraying German personalities from politics, business, art and church and lesser-known people over the years from his personal environment. The third focus of his work is his work in public spaces, which are sometimes a combination of animal and human subjects. In addition to the sculptures for public spaces, Ringwald also created bronze busts and reliefs, among others by Hermann Prey , Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Edith Stein .

In the years 1998–2000, the fountain created by Ringwald in the inner city of Hechingen, which depicts the expulsion of Jews from Hechingen by the National Socialists, along with other historical scenes, caused controversy. One of the Nazi figures clearly wore the facial features of the Hechingen SPD city councilor Jürgen Fischer, who had previously appeared in the local council as the sharpest opponent of the fountain project. After two years of litigation, Fischer's facial features had to be sanded off the fountain.
