Rolf Legler

Rolf Legler (born May 27, 1945 in Rückersdorf , Bohemia ) is a German painter , draftsman , graphic artist , photographer , art and cultural historian and writer .

His subject areas include the medieval architecture of the Mediterranean area , as well as urban architecture, defense architecture and monastery architecture of the Middle Ages and painting from 1800 to the present day.

Legler studied painting and graphics in Nuremberg from 1967 to 1969 and in Munich from 1969 . In 1971 and 1973 he passed the first and second state examinations for art education at the grammar school . He then studied history , sociology and art history at the University of Munich ; In 1984 he completed these studies with his doctorate .

Legler is considered an expert in medieval monastery architecture, especially on the subject of cloisters . He is also known as the author of numerous art travel guides to Italy, France and Spain, and as a photographer. His paintings and drawings have been exhibited many times. He lives in Munich.
