Life

Rostislaw Chugajew was born in 1951 in what is now South Ossetia, which was then part of the Soviet Union. At the age of 20 he went to Kuibyshev (today's Samara), where he began to study engineering at the local university. He graduated from this in 1976, after which he began to work in this profession and was active as an entrepreneur, in addition to which he also founded an Ossetian cultural center in Samara.

He later returned to his South Ossetian homeland. After the 2012 election, he was appointed Prime Minister by the newly elected South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilow on May 15, 2012.
