Vadim Vladimirovich Browzew ( Russian Вадим Владимирович Бровцев ; born July 26, 1969 in Chelyabinsk , in what was then the Russian SFSR , Soviet Union ) is a South Ossetian politician of Russian origin and was Prime Minister of the South Ossetian Republic from August 2009 to May 2012, which was not recognized internationally .

Career

After completing his military service with the Strategic Missile Forces of the Soviet Army , Vadim Browzew studied at the Sverdlovsk Institute of Economics . In 1990 he was involved in founding the construction company Wermikulit in Chelyabinsk . From 1994 to 1996 he worked in a leading position in the Ural-Awto forwarding company . From 1996 to 2005 he was a member of the Osjorsk City Council in the Urals . Then he was chairman of the board of directors at Wermikulit . Browzew lived in Sochi before he was appointed head of the South Ossetian government , as his company was involved in several construction projects for the 2014 Winter Olympics here .

Political activity in South Ossetia

On August 5, 2009, he was appointed by South Ossetia's President Eduard Kokoity to succeed Aslanbek Bulazew as the South Ossetian Prime Minister. Browzew is seen as the "man of Moscow" who is supposed to control the way South Ossetia deals with Russian financial aid. After the military conflict over South Ossetia in 2008 , Russia began to provide substantial material support to South Ossetia in order to finance the repair of the war damage. In spring 2010 the media reported that President Kokoity was trying to force Browzew out of office in order to evade Moscow's control. The Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin then called on the South Ossetian President to refrain from taking any further action against Brovzew and his entourage, whom Kokoity referred to as the "Chelyabinsk Mafia".

Wadim Browzew is married and has a daughter and a son.
