The Rot-Weiss-Klub Kassel e. V. is a dance sport club in Kassel . The club, which was founded in 1926, has tournament dance couples in the Latin and Standard divisions, several standard formation and a Latin formation as well as popular sports, children's and youth dance, and jazz and modern dance . This makes the club the oldest dance sport club in Northern Hesse.
The Rot-Weiss-Klub Kassel operates two dance sport centers, the Auepark dance center, which was inaugurated in 1980, and the Wesertor dance club, which was inaugurated in 1998. An expansion of the dance center is planned in 2014.
Standard formations
A-team
The standard formation of the Rot-Weiss-Klub Kassel was originally founded in 1989 as a show formation. In 1991 the first formation tournament in the Oberliga Süd Standard followed.
In the 1996/1997 season, the team of the Rot-Weiss-Klub Kassel, which meanwhile danced in the Regionalliga Süd Standard, did not compete. The next year the team was able to win 1st place in the Oberliga Süd Standard and rose again to the Regionalliga Süd.
After the team danced in the Regionalliga Süd for two seasons, it reached the 1st place in the Regionalliga Süd in the 2000/2001 season and made it to the 2nd Bundesliga Standard with a 2nd place in the subsequent promotion tournament. After two years in the 2nd Bundesliga, the team was relegated back to the Regionalliga Süd in 2003. In the following 2003/2004 season, the team reached 1st place in the Regionalliga Süd as well as in the subsequent promotion tournament and rose again to the 2nd Bundesliga Standard.
From the 2009/2010 season to 2016/2017 the team danced standard in the Bundesliga.

In the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons, the team danced in the Regionalliga Süd / West Standard. The musical theme was always "Billy Joel". In the 2019/2020 season, the team will dance in the new 2nd Bundesliga South, which was created by merging the southern teams from the 2nd Bundesliga Standard and the Regional League South / West Standard. The musical theme is still "Billy Joel".
The team's coach is Burkhard Wagener.
Other standard teams
In addition to the A-team, the Rot-Weiss-Klub Kassel had two other standard teams. A junior team was founded in 2008. From this team a B-Team grew up, which competed in the Regionalliga Süd Standard for the first time in the 2011/2012 season. The trainers of the formation, which competed in league competitions up to the 2015/2016 season, were Timo Ziepprecht and Xenia Hepp-König, themselves active dancers in the A-team.
In addition to the B-Team, there was also a junior team. This was trained by Andreas Podlich, an active dancer in the A-Team.
Latin formation
In the summer of 2012, a Latin formation was founded as a show formation in the Rot-Weiss-Klub Kassel. In January 2013, the TSG Baunatal Latin formation, founded in 2007, switched to the Rot-Weiss-Klub Kassel. The Latin formation of the Rot-Weiss-Klub Kassel started in the 2013/2014 season with the musical theme "Girls on Fire" in the Oberliga Süd 1 Latin. In the following two years, the team did not participate in league competitions. Since the 2016/2017 season, the club has again been represented with a Latin formation in the Oberliga Süd 1 Latin. The team's trainders are Romy Lehmann and Herbert Kurz.
